Hitch Ranch and Hitch Farms
Hitch Farms, Inc. is our farming and ranching entity. The farm portion is managed by Curtis Raines and is comprised of approximately 4500 acres of irrigated and non-irrigated farm land. The crops raised are milo (sorghum), wheat (hard red winter), and corn. In addition, there is some haying that takes place both with introduced grasses and prairie hay. Some of the farm land is fertilized with natural animal manure for a more organic approach though none of the crops that we grow are produced for human consumption.
Hitch Ranch includes the original homestead in its acreage. It is a composite of native pasture and introduced grass pasture. Due to the dry nature of our region the introduced grasses only survive on irrigated and fertilized land. However, this land is extremely productive when used properly. The ranch is managed by Rick Furnish who was also raised on the ranch.
